Common Housing Register Support Service


The Scottish Housing Best Value Network (SHBVN) has successfully delivered this Scottish Government funded support service since early 2007.

The service is available to assist all social landlords in Scotland in the development and implementation of Common Housing Registers (CHRs).

Partners
SHBVN is working in partnership with CIH Scotland to provide a Scotland-wide service. Recently Colin Moss from Arneil Johnston joined the support service to deliver independent expert IT advice to practitioners involved with CHRs.

The Service
The main features of support are a response advice service, up to date research and publications, newsletters, checklists and positive practic pointers, theme based forums, good practice guides and this dedicated website. Additional service include:

  • Targeted one to one support - mediation, local events and workshops
  • ICT Advisory Service - independent expert IT advice
  • Greater use of media and communications to extend the reach of the service.

CHR Steering Group
The service is overseen by a steering group with representation from:

  • Local Authorities
  • Registered Social Landlords (RSLs)
  • Scottish Government
  • Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA)
  • Association of Chief Local Authority Housing Officers (ALACHO).
