Benchmarking Service

Core Benchmarking

For 15 years SHBVN has provided and co-ordinated a benchmarking service for local authorities. In 2005 the membership criteria widened and is now open to transfer landlords also. At present 31 of Scotland's 32 councils are members along with Glasgow Housing Accociation.

RSL Benchmarking

The Scottish Housing Best Value Network set up the first Scottish based Benchmarking Club for Housing Associations in 2006. 25 Housing Associations piloted the first set of 20 indicators. In 2009, 32 housing associations joined and benchmarked using 30+ indicators.

Following on from the success of the service over the past 4 years, we have improved the service by moving from a manual system to a fully automated web based system that will enable members to:

input, update and amend performance information online
query benchmark results using an online interactive survey results tool
download charts and snapshots in Excel to create customised reports
compare own performance against that of their peers, including local authority performance.

In addition SHBVN has:

increased and refined the performance indicators
increased the number of forums and seminars from two to four per year
created more opportunities to process benchmark through greater
networking, practice exchange forums and seminars.

Our benchmarking service provides landlords with detailed cost and performance reports comparing results and allowing for more detailed analysis of services.
